A life well lived came to a close Monday, July 15, 2019 at Memorial Satilla Health, Waycross, Georgia. Annette Marie Brickle McGauley was born to the union of the late Deacon Aaron Brickle and Frances Chance Brickle in Tampa, Florida on July 16, 1942. She was the youngest of two children. After the passing of her mother when she was six months old, her father married Mae Frances Ruth of Millwood, Georgia, who raised Annette as her own. In 1957, she met the love of her life, James Donell McGauley, at the Paradise Café on Oak Street in Waycross, Georgia. The song playing on the jukebox the moment they met is the song that became their anthem. The name of that song was ‘Darling, You Send Me’ by Sam Cooke. On March 13, 1964, she married James and to this union, four children were born: James, Jr., Renae, Steven, and Delano. Tithing is giving to God the first ten percent portion of all our income, profits and increase. The tithe is set apart for God. Leviticus 27:30, 33 tells us that all the tithe (ten percent) is the Lords and that it is holy to the Lord. Tithing is our reasonable service, it is a confession of our faith, it is an expression of worship and it shows God how much we appreciate and love Him. Tithing also is our way of saying, “Lord, YOU are the source of supply.” Tithing is God’s way of financing His kingdom. It takes money to do ministry. Malachi 3:10; Proverbs 3:9. Jesus acknowledged the tithe. He recognized that the Pharisees in Luke 11:42 were tithers. But He admonished them for ignoring justice and the love of God. You can’t tithe while neglecting to demonstrate His love. Jesus is saying, Do both! Let the love of God and our love FOR God be our motivation. Some people will say that tithing is not for today. But how much more should we give ten percent of our income to kingdom work...

Six years ago today, my husband and I were ordained and installed as pastor and ministering Elder of The Upper Room Outreach Ministries, Inc. by Apostle James H. Brown. Our Pastor, Samuel Sellers, III, is a true visionary; an innovative influencer and encourager. The most humble man I know. Never speaks negatively about others and always looks for the best in everyone. He has been a father figure to so many children whose biological fathers were not there. Multiple entrepreneurs were encouraged to start their own business because of him. Outreach ministry and evangelism is his passion. Quiet yet quick; successful yet selfless; a private man and a praying man. Patient and always productive. He has withstood many test and many trials. He has overcome much but rarely complains. His endurance is a testament to the goodness and faithfulness of God! God is truly a keeper. My husband pushes me and others to go forth in things we may not have done without him. He is my biggest supporter...

It is unethical for a Pastor/leader to plant negative seeds (words) in the mind of an individual about their leader. If that person’s leader is wrong or is in error, it is our job, as brothers and sisters in Christ, to go to that leader, not the member of the congregation, and do what we can to help them get back on track. It is difficult to bring restoration when we have engaged in conversations that bring division. The Bible tells us to RESTORE (Galatians 6:1), not destroy. If we are not going to talk TO them then let’s not talk ABOUT them. God’s Word gives clear guidelines on how to deal with issues in the church. Let’s not neglect to follow His guidelines. I grieve for what I see and I pray that we will choose agape love over hidden agendas. God’s design for the Body of Christ is that we be ONE.
