ONE PERSON; ONE BIG IDEA

Each year, Audrey Dinkins host THE MOST POWERFUL and EXPLOSIVE Women Conferences. She is not a pastor, evangelist, pastor’s wife, etc. In fact, I have never even heard her speak aside from giving final remarks. She LITERALLY takes a back seat and watches as others go forth to help bring healing and deliverance. She is ONE person with ONE BIG idea.
Whenever crisis hits and people are hurting, I often see the question asked, “Where are the Pastors?” or “What are the pastors doing?” These are good questions with two very simple answers: ‘Visible’ and ‘A lot’.  Much of what they do is not publicized. They often take a back seat while equipping and mobilizing others to serve. They are boots on the ground doing outreach, visiting the jails, prisons, hospitals and nursing homes; serving on community boards giving insight and input into what they see can be done to make community better. They are actively giving wise counsel to the ideas of others, mentoring and empowering youth, walking our communities praying, covering, and interceding during hours when those in the community they are praying for are still asleep. They often do things and do not want people to know it was them. That’s not a lack of concern; that’s humility.
However, it doesn’t take ministerial credentials to do something about change. All it takes is a CARING, COMPASSIONATE and CONCERNED human being. ONE concerned citizen can make a BIG difference.
There are countless people in our communities working diligently to see our communities safe and secure. Most recently, Tracy Harris, ONE concerned citizen with ONE BIG idea held a shoe rally because she works in the school system and wants to help children have new shoes for school. Missionary Sandra Hill, ONE concerned citizen with ONE BIG idea had a food drive and school supply give away because she loves to cook and loves to serve. Latonya Kitchen, ONE concerned citizen with ONE BIG idea held a community day to raise awareness about violence in her community after her niece was tragically murdered leaving four children behind. Dr. Yolanda Rivers summer youth academy; ONE concerned citizen with ONE BIG IDEA to provide resources and exposure to children who otherwise may never leave the city of Waycross. Ngwebifor Fobi; ONE concerned citizen with MULTIPLE BIG ideas. These are just a few of recent, and you may know others, who are not pastors; just PEOPLE who see something and then DO SOMETHING about what they see. I would dare to say that if you see it, that just may be YOUR assignment. All it takes is ONE. You don’t need a lot of money. All you need is an IDEA and I believe the money will come.
